"The bells-and-whistles of this app are what make it a must-buy, from grocery lists you can email to how-to illustrations. Bittman also makes it nearly impossible to mess up a dish—each recipe step has a built in timer so there’s less chance you’ll forget how long your osso bucco has been cooking."

Pros and cons of How to Cook Everything app for iPhone and iPad

How to Cook Everything app good for

A very comprehensive app, with lots of different cuisine styles to choose from: there is definitely something for every taste and level of cooking confidence. Plus, all possible functions have been thought of. I especially like integration with the Calendar: kudos for having thought of that! Well worth the price.
Mark Bittmans style is engaging. The app is feature complete and thoughtfully made. The navigation by panes works well enough. All in all, its a very good match between the recipes - useful, not too complex - and the tool. Some things Id like- integration with paprika, so I can see Marks recipes in my "one stop shop for cooking" , and maybe more "livelihood" on the apps part: a feature a week, o a blog post, or a link to cooking related subjects like technique or equipment...
With loads of good and easy recipes, well designed, this makes my life easier. Its my go-to for weeknight dinners. Thank you Mark Bittman
Very nice app, great recipes, real variety, love the explanations and the ingredient flexibility!
This app is absolutely fantastic, teaches you everything and sets very smart features, such as a well thought grocery list, food agenda, favourites... All tou need. Brilliant
Simple, straight-forward. General recipes with a touch of sophistication, but great to be prepared in a day to day basis.

Some bad moments

If you cant cook at all and need to know, how to bool an egg, than its your app.
I have the app How to Cook Everything. I made the Beet Rosti. It called for 700 gr. of beets, 30 gr. of flour and a tiny t. of rosemary. The rosti was a flop as there was not enough flour for the amount of beets. His recipe online, in the NY Times Diners Journal has DIFFERENT proportions and more ingredients and would probably turn out better. Im disappointed with the app.
Great app. Easy to use. Has some good recipes Please add filter options to search such as highest rating, highest votes etc. When I search for say mashed potatoes, I want to be able to filter the search results to whatever Im looking for. Update: app is getting stale. Not sure if its worth its price tag. Would like to see an Apple Watch companion for at least the timer and Apple TV support so that I can cook while looking at the tv instead of a puny screen. This app has been last updated in 2014. Ouch. 2014?!? Dude. Thats just nasty and wrong and pure robbery. Dont buy unless this company starts updating things, and I dont just mean bug fixes. Thank you
