How to Cook Everything App Reviews

This is a great app. It is the equivalent of the Better Homes and Gardens recipe book. You cant go too wrong. Theres a recipe for just about anything, and it has links to "how to" things for which a tip might be helpful. There are a few ways in which the UI could be improved--buttons a tad small, flipping back and forth for ingredients/instructions--but the underlying substance and basic ease of use meets the standards of a first or second generation app.

Simple, understandable methods. Suggested variations. Basic ingredients. This app rocks!

This cookbook is great if you could find what you need. The search function is awful! One word searches is all you get. Try Greek chicken? Forget it! If you cant search for a recipe you cant use it! You can search by ingredient but then you are faced with a bunch of recipes.

Great app!!!it has everything I need and I can use it on the go...wow its so worth getting.I would recommend it to anyone.

Very useful app to have when you need a refresher on technique and basic recipes.

Lots of good recipes, not too complicated.

Absolutely wonderful. Bittmans habit of providing variant recipes and links to related dishes make this the first truly flexible cookbook Ive ever known. He has improved my cooking skills by simply opening my eyes to other possibilities. Bittman is a proponent of simpler methods and it works and its great. We have a shelf of dead tree cookbooks; this app gets more use.

Update. Great app. Please update for iPhone 6 plus. I love this app, it reminds me of a version of higher joy of cooking, great for people learning the basics of cooking and people that have been cooking for years.

I use this and the vegetarian companion all the time. Heavy on technique and most recipes give lots of variations that can inspire your own ideas. I especially like the feature to keep the iPad on with one tap while Im working in the kitchen. (I have others that shut down if it turns off so you have to search for the recipe again)

I love this app and have been using it since it first came out. Have also used the hard bound book for many years prior to that. It would be great if they would finally update this for the iPhone 6 and 6 plus soon that takes advantage of the bigger screens. There are also still a few bugs here and there. I have trouble saving recipes to my favorites, for example. Otherwise still a great app with loads of content.

The content is amazing. Wish the app didnt look like it was from 2010.

I love using this app. Bittman provides clear directions with lots of variations to help inspire your personal creativity in the kitchen. This is one of my favorite go-to resources.

This app is a great resource for general recipes, but the app desperately needs to be updated for iOS 8 (soon to be 9). Interface looks old, and outdated. Syncing so that your favorites and grocery lists can be accessed from multiple devices is needed as well.

Ive pretty much depended on this app for the last year. Its been excellent for me as a newbie cook/baker often intimidated by the jargon and preparations on more advanced or specialized websites.

Im not much of a cook, and dont do it often. So I was extremely disappointed, in one of the few times Ive used the app, to try to find hamburger recipes and have it come up blank. Maybe it really isnt about how to cook everything?
